as part of the activities of the awareness team on climate variables and the importance of afforestation in Maysan Governorate, the Plant Protection Department/College of Agriculture held an awareness workshop on the causes of climate change and the location of afforestation within the efforts made to reduce the effects of global warming. The workshop, which was moderated by the teaching lecturer (Mr. Karar Akram Kamel), discussed The global situation and the latest statistics regarding the increase in Earth’s temperature, and current expectations for the next 30 years. The workshop highlighted the role of afforestation and vegetation in reducing air pollutants and greenhouse gases, and the role of community awareness in confronting climate change and the resulting food security threats. The workshop concluded by benefiting from the scientific discussions that took place among the teaching staff and students, and the most important realistic proposals for the Iraqi citizen to take his desired role in afforestation campaigns and enhancing vegetation cover.
