{"id":167,"date":"2019-03-18T11:28:14","date_gmt":"2019-03-18T11:28:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uomisan.edu.iq\/eduweb\/en\/?p=167"},"modified":"2019-03-18T11:28:15","modified_gmt":"2019-03-18T11:28:15","slug":"a-seminar-was-held-at-the-college-of-education-university-of-missan-department-of-english","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomisan.edu.iq\/eduweb\/en\/archives\/167","title":{"rendered":"A seminar was held at the College of Education \/ University of Missan \/ Department of English"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A\nseminar was held at the College of Education \/ University of Missan \/\nDepartment of English on the &#8220;Syntactic Study of Theme and Rheme in Dan\nBrown angels and demons according to Halliday &#8216;s SFG&#8221;.<br>\nThe study tends to analyze the structural aspect of Theme and\nRheme in linguistics texts and novels and study the strategies of Theme and\nRheme and explain its importance in the study of literary texts.<br>\nThe workshop included general information to explain the idea of\nthe Theme and Rheme and types in the linguistic texts. The study included\nclarifying the importance of the Theme and Rheme in the sequence of ideas,\nsentences and coherence in the linguistic texts.<br>\nThe study showed the types of Theme and Rheme :<br>\nSimple Theme, derived Theme , linear and constant ones .<br>\nHaliday&#8217;s theory includes that the language is a meaningful\nsystem and refers to the importance of syntax in the language. This means that\nthere is a strong relationship between the meaning and structure advanced by\nthe student to clarify. The student explained that there are three ways to use\nthe language:<br>\n1. People use language to describe, analyze, and express our\nunderstanding of the world, known as the &#8220;ideational meaning&#8221;<br>\n2. Use the language to link the previous article to the rest of the\nsentence. Here is the relationship of the speaker to the listener and is known\nas the interpersonal meaning &#8220;interpersonal meaning&#8221;<br>\n3. People use the language to arrange the text in a consistent\nmanner known as textual meaning &#8220;textual meaning&#8221;<br>\nThe researcher added how Dan Brown used the grammatical\nstructures in his novel to illustrate the conflict between religion and science<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nstudy was submitted by a master&#8217;s student<br>\n(Noor Rahim Naama) under the supervision of (Dr.D.
