{"id":284,"date":"2019-10-02T05:53:41","date_gmt":"2019-10-02T05:53:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uomisan.edu.iq\/medicine\/en\/?p=284"},"modified":"2019-10-02T05:55:55","modified_gmt":"2019-10-02T05:55:55","slug":"college-of-medicine-at-the-university-of-misan-holds-a-scientific-symposium-on-the-causes-and-treatment-of-halitosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomisan.edu.iq\/medicine\/en\/2019\/10\/02\/college-of-medicine-at-the-university-of-misan-holds-a-scientific-symposium-on-the-causes-and-treatment-of-halitosis\/","title":{"rendered":"College of Medicine at the University of Misan holds a scientific symposium on the causes and treatment of halitosis."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The college of Medicine at the University of Misan\norganized a scientific symposium on the causes and treatment of halitosis, with\nthe participation of researchers and specialists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The symposium included a lecture given by Dr. Sami\nKhalaf Jabbar, which showed that bad breath affects about 50% of the world\npopulation and the most important causes are volatile sulfur compounds produced\nin the mouth by 90%, and these volatile compounds are closely related to the\npresence of types of aerobic gram negative bacteria. The posterior surface of\nthe tongue and the connective tissue of the teeth are the most important oral\nsites for the production of bad breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The symposium dealt with the treatment of this smell\nin various ways, including mechanical methods using a toothbrush to clean the\nsurfaces of the teeth and tongue as well as the use of medical threads, while\nchemical methods are including the use of chemical solutions such as oxygen\nmouthwash, the other way is by using zinc, which converts volatile sulfur\ncompounds into compounds dissolved in the mouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lecturer was recommended the need to take good\ncare of dental hygiene and regular follow up of the case with specialist, but when\nthe cause is not oral in origin the case must be followed by other specialties\nsuch as ENT specialist or physician.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"396\" src=\"https:\/\/medicine.uomisan.edu.iq\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/111111.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uomisan.edu.iq\/medicine\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/111111.jpg 600w, https:\/\/uomisan.edu.iq\/medicine\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/111111-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the seminar, participants were given\nsamples of mouthwashes and toothpastes used to treat halitosis.\n\nThis\nseminar is part of the activities of the Division of Continuing Education in\nthe College planned for the academic year \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"396\" src=\"https:\/\/medicine.uomisan.edu.iq\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/222222.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-286\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uomisan.edu.iq\/medicine\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/222222.jpg 600w, https:\/\/uomisan.edu.iq\/medicine\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/222222-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The college of Medicine at the University of Misan organized a scientific symposium on the causes and treatment of halitosis, with the participation of researchers and specialists.
