A meeting was held with the College of Education at the University of Missouri in the United States of America for the purpose of discussing and starting joint scientific cooperation and exchanging experiences between the two universities for the development of the scientific research movement as well as activating the (research fellowships) program for the faculty of the University of Misan.
The meeting was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Postgraduate Studies Asst. Prof. Dr. Adel Adel Ma’na Dakhil, the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Misan, Prof. Dr. Hashim Dakhil Hussein, with the Dean of the College of Basic Education, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Kadhum Mohsen, and the heads of the Departments of English in both colleges at the University of Misan, with the presence of both the Director of Scholarships and Cultural Relations and the Cultural Attaché at the Iraqi Embassy in America, Dr. Ali Mayahi, who played a major role in holding this intellectual cross-fertilization and academic twinning between international universities.
For his part, the Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Postgraduate Studies Asst. Prof. Dr. Adel Adel Ma’na Dakhil confirmed that among the priorities of this intellectual cross-fertilization is working to provide scholarships annually to the University of Misan, as well as following up on joint research between its faculty and others in international universities, which will raise the classification of Misan University within Scopus and Clarivate International indexed journals. At first, it was agreed to conduct academic and research debates between the staff of to the University of Misan and the staff of the University of Missouri in America. This activity is among a group of activities offered by the University of Misan by holding virtual meetings with the first-grade universities in America and the world to engage with the global education track.
The Dean of the College of Education, Prof. Dr. Hashim Dakhil Hussein indicated the possibility of holding academic twinning and receiving foreign students from the University of Missouri in the areas of Arabic, history and English in order to exchange views and ideas according to the major areas of the faculty of the University of Misan in this field.
For her part, Dr. Gabriella explained that this cooperation with the University of Misan is the first of its kind in the Middle East after cooperation with India and Taiwan. So, this is an opportunity to deepen the mechanisms of scientific cooperation and attention to people with special needs, as they represent one of the classes of societies who need special treatment. Therefore, academic twinning programs will be implemented soon.
