The College of Education at the University of Misan, in cooperation with the Office Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, held an international workshop with the University of Central Florida on the challenges facing students and faculty of the English Language Department at the College of Education, University of Misan and how to find solutions to these problems.
The workshop included three lectures delivered by Prof. Dr. Ala Dhafer Amer, a representative of the University of Misan, and Dr. Christina C. and Dr. Jennifer Haddad two representatives from the University of Central Florida.
Prof. Dr. Alaa Dhafer Amer’s lecture dealt with the most prominent challenges, problems and difficulties facing students and faculty of the English Language Department at the College of Education – University of Misan, which included four types of challenges: related to the learning and teaching environment, faculty challenges, students challenges, and logistical challenges.
The workshop confirmed through a lecture by Dr. Christina C. that there are challenges that need to be overcome, such as problems of correct pronunciation, because of their role in conveying meaning into something completely different.
Dr. Jennifer Haddad pointed out in her lecture to the role of mastering vocabulary and context in overcoming some of the problems of speaking and comprehension.
