Assist. Prof. Dr. Bashar Fouad Abbas, an instructor at the Department of Geography / College of Basic Education

, participated in the discussion committee for the student Muhannad Tarish Qasem. This defense is held in Wasit University/ College of Education for Humanities entitled (Geomorphological Units and their Relationship to Mineral Wealth, Northeast of the Province of Maysan). The thesis was aimed at study the natural characteristics of the area, the subject of study,  and its role in the emergence of geomorphological units, it’s change and geology, as well as it’s geomorphological processes and their role in the formation of those units and know the chronological history of them.

The study showed that the natural characteristics have an important role in the formation and creation a continuous change of the terrain and the formation of geomorphological units in the region. The study indicated that the region was heavily influenced by the alpine tectonic movements, as these movements left clear traces in the rocks of al-Qaeda and in the form of cracks. The letter recommended that the use of GIS and remote sensing be expanded and adopted in the detection of untapped mineral resources in the region.

At the end of the discussion, the deanship of the college awarded a letter of thanks and appreciation to Dr. Bashar Fouad Abbas for his good efforts in completing the discussion successfully.
