The College of Education holds its first annual international mathematics festival

The Department of Mathematics at the College of Education, University of Maysan, held a festival on the occasion of the first annual International Mathematics Day The ceremony was opened by the President of the University of Maysan, Professor Dr. Adil Manaa Dakhel And the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, the respected Professor Dr. Muhammad Kadhim Al-Hashimi And the Assistant Professor for Administrative and Legal Affairs, the respected Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Jabbar Tuyah And the respected Dean of the College of Physical Education, Professor Dr. Majid Aziz Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education,the respected Assistant Professor Dr. Buraq Talib Shalash, the respected Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Rana Sabeeh Abboud, and the respected Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor

The festival included a speech by the President of the University of Maysan, in which he welcomed the holding of such scientific festivals, stressing that the world is dominated by modern technologies in various sciences, praising in his speech the sustainable development and human potential that serves the scientific movement. The speech of the Dean of the College of Education in which he praised the scientific role of the Day of Mathematics and other sciences, which share common axes to lead the wheel of progress in human life. The festival included an exhibition on World Mathematics Day (pi), in which the Mathematics Department dedicated a large model of pi, information boards, and mathematical models , geometric shapes and learning methods. It also included a scientific lecture and a mathematics bank competition among students, and honoring the top students in the Mathematics Department for the academic year 2022-2023 for the morning and evening studies. The Head of the Mathematics Department, Mr. Ahmed Karim Mutashar, explained the occasion of this international day, saying: For 30 years and increasingly, mathematicians and physicists have been celebrating every year on March 14 the International Day of the number (π), which is the famous constant that has a large presence in many mathematical relationships, the most famous of which are the laws of the circumference and area of ​​a circle, the discovery of which is closely linked to them. Increasing global awareness of mathematical sciences is vital in addressing the challenges emerging in the areas of artificial intelligence, climate change, energy and sustainable development,and
in order to improve the quality of life in developed and developing countries alike, the UNESCO General
Conference, at its fortieth session held in November 2019, adopted March 14 of each year as International Mathematics Day. This year, the festival will be held in our college under the slogan “International Mathematics Day, Renewed Creativity,” emphasizing the importance of mathematics in our daily lives. At the conclusion of this international day, which is full of development and human resources that serve progress The Department Head presented a group of gifts and prizes to the winners of the Mathematics Bank Competition and the top students for the year 2022 and 2023 for morning and evening studies.
