Master thesis was discussed for the postgraduate student (Anfal Abdul Razzaq Lafta) at the College of Science / University of Misan/ Department of Biology under the supervision ofProf. Dr. Ali Abdel Wahed Kassem, a lecturer at the Department of Biology at the College of Science. He was a member and a supervisor of the discussion committee of the student’s thesis tagged:
“Isolation and Classification of Nematode-trapping Fungi and Their Effects on the Control of Egg and Larvae of Root Knots Meloidgyne sp and their Correlation with Some Biomechanical Factors”
With the participation of the members of the discussion committee:
1- Prof.Dr. Majeed Meteb Diwan as President / University of Kufa / College of Agriculture
2- Prof.Dr. Abdul Amir Samir Saadoun/ Member / University of Qadisiyah / College of Science
3- Prof.Dr. Ghassan Mahdi Dagher /Member / University of Misan / College of Agriculture.
The study included the collection of 90 soil samples from different areas of the province of Maysan from the soil of orchards and agricultural fields where 12 species of fungi deadly Nematode have been isolated, four new species have been recorded for the first time in Iraq.
The results indicated that the fungi of T. viride and T.harzianum with concentrations of 10%, 20% and 30% resulted in increased growth of Nematode-trapping fungi and an increase in the number of their reproductive units and this result is recorded for the first time in the world.
All the examined nematode-trapping fungi showed their ability to produce nano particles, this result is recorded for the first time in the world for some fungi.
It was found that the use of a combination of the fungi trapping of nematode and the two above fungi and the P. P. fluorescens is reduced the hatching rate of eggs of Meloidogyne sp infesting the roots of plants and thus the possibility of preparing preparations used in biomaterials.
