Assistant Professor Dr. Saleh Hasan Jazaa, a lecturer in the College of Sciences / Department of Biology, in cooperation with a researcher from Basra University, published a scientific paper in the Iranian journal of Ichthyology, within the Scopus containers under the title:
Origins and distribution of polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in water and sediments of some rivers in Maysan Province, Iraq.
The research aims to determine the origin and distribution of the polycyclic aromatic compounds in the water and sediments of some rivers in Maysan Governorate, depending on their concentration, and to determine the health damages resulting from them after comparing them with the permissible limits specified by the World Health Organization, because these compounds have toxic and carcinogenic effects for humans. The study concluded to the presence of low concentrations of some of these compounds, while others recorded high concentrations that may lead to health effects.
