ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF FUNGI FRO SUBMERGED PLANTS DEBRIS IN AQUATIC HABITATS IN MISAN PROVINCE
Abstract: 48 species of saprophytic fungi found on submerged plant remains were isolated and diagnosed from samples collected from different areas in southern Iraq. It was found that among the isolated species, 24 species belong to the Ascomycota fungi (six of which are the asexual fungi), 19 are related to the hyphomycetes, 4 are related to the zygomatic fungi and one type of the oomycota. Six species were isolated and recorded for the first time in Iraq: Aniptodera margaration, Cirrenalia iberica, Cortana lignicola, Cordana verruculosa, Pseudoacrodictys appendiculata, and Scytalidium thermophilum. The two methods were used wet room and direct culture to isolate the fungi, 34 species were isolated in the first method and 24 in the second method.
