The University of Maysan organizes a scientific symposium on the possibilities of investing in renewable energy sources in Maysan Governorate

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Buraq Talib Shalash The Department of Geography, College of Education/University of Maysan, organized the event under the slogan “Towards environmentally friendly renewable energy sources”. A scientific symposium entitled (The possibility of investing in renewable energy sources in Maysan Governorate) in the presence of the Dean, the Dean’s assistants, and professors and students of graduate and preliminary studies. The symposium included four topics, the first on the concept and sources of renewable energy and the history of its investment in Iraq by Professor Dr. Kazim Shanta Saad. The second dealt with the climate potential available for investing in renewable energy in Maysan Governorate, by Professor Dr. Ali Ghalis Nahi.
The third discussed solar energy and its uses by Professor Dr. Hashim Kazim Subeikhi As for the fourth topic, it reviewed the future prospects for renewable energy in Maysan Governorate, by the teacher, Dr. Hind Tariq Majeed. The symposium showed that Maysan Governorate receives long hours of solar radiation during the year, which qualifies it to become a source of electrical energy in many places in the governorate, and that the wind and its speed may also contribute to the establishment of stations to invest wind energy in generating electricity. The symposium reached a number of recommendations, including developing more serious and objective plans to invest in solar and wind energy in order to contribute to bridging the shortage of electricity supplies in Maysan Governorate.
As well as spreading community awareness among people about the necessity of using renewable energy sources because of their many advantages at the economic, environmental, social, health and other levels.
