As part of its tireless efforts to enhance academic openness and expand the horizons of joint scientific cooperation, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Maysan received a high-level academic delegation during a scientific meeting held on Monday, January 5, 2026, in the office of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
The delegation was received by Professor Abbas Odeh Daoud, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Assistant Professor Jabbar Rahim Rashid, Head of the Department of Petroleum Engineering; Assistant Professor Muzaffar Yaqoub Hussein, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering; and Saif Ali Al-Moussawi, a lecturer in the Department of Petroleum Engineering. The meeting focused on discussing ways to enhance scientific and academic cooperation between the Faculty of Engineering and a number of regional universities and scientific institutions, particularly Shahid Chamran University in the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a manner that contributes to the development of scientific research and the advancement of the academic process.
The visiting delegation included Professor Issa Al-Tarfi, Assistant Director General of the Southern Oil Company, and Hussein Hamadi Al-Akeili, a professor at Shahid Chamran University / College of Science, accompanied by Assistant Professor Mustafa Nasser Manati, Head of the Department of Missions and Cultural Relations at the University of Maysan. This participation reflected the importance of integration between academic expertise and practical application, especially in the engineering and petroleum sectors that are closely linked to sustainable development requirements.
During the meeting, prospects for joint cooperation in scientific research were discussed, with particular emphasis on the fields of energy, renewable energy, and the environment. The discussions also addressed the exchange of expertise among faculty members and researchers, the implementation of joint research projects, and cooperation in organizing scientific conferences, seminars, and specialized workshops, in a way that enhances the quality of engineering education and enriches academic programs with advanced and diverse experiences.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering emphasized the faculty’s keenness to build effective scientific partnerships with reputable universities and institutions, noting that openness to regional and international academic experiences represents a fundamental pillar in developing academic performance and strengthening the faculty’s presence in scientific and research forums.
The Faculty of Engineering affirmed that such meetings constitute an important step toward consolidating fruitful scientific cooperation, supporting applied research pathways, and linking the outcomes of engineering education to the requirements of practical reality and the labor market.
