The College of Engineering at the University of Misan Organizes a Cultural and Intellectual Symposium on the Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Lady Fatimah Al-Zahra (Peace Be Upon Her)
Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Abbas Odah Dawood, the Student Activities Unit at the College of Engineering organized a cultural and intellectual symposium on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatimah Al-Zahra (Peace Be Upon Her).
The symposium was attended by several faculty members, including Assistant Professor Dr. Hasnain Abbas, Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, and Professor Dr. Saad Fahd, Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, in addition to a large group of college staff and students.
The symposium included a lecture delivered by Islamic researcher and academic, His Eminence Sayyid Mohsen Al-Modarresi, the son of the religious authority Ayatollah Mohammad Taqi Al-Modarresi. The lecture was titled “Contemporary Challenges of Youth” and focused on the role of university students in facing intellectual challenges, promoting Islamic values, and reinforcing the principles of Sharia. Emphasis was placed on the necessity for youth to be aware of their responsibilities in protecting society from deviant ideas and anti-Islamic ideologies.
The lecture also highlighted the importance of adhering to religious and social values as a means to achieve societal balance, citing Quranic verses, including the verse: “And We did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves.”
The event also featured a cultural and religious book exhibition, which attracted the attention of the attendees, along with an interactive Q&A session. Students posed various questions, and His Eminence Sayyid Al-Modarresi provided clear answers, adding a special interactive atmosphere to the event.
At the conclusion of the symposium, the participants affirmed that youth’s adherence to religious and ethical values is a protective shield against intellectual deviations and the key to building a cohesive and prosperous society.
