Training Workshop on Chemical Safety and Security in Laboratories at the Faculty of Engineering

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Adel Man’e Dakhil, Rector of the University of Maysan, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Abbas Oda Dawood, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit, in collaboration with the Petroleum Engineering Department and the Continuing Education Unit, organized a training workshop on “Chemical Safety and Security Procedures in Chemical Laboratories”.

The workshop was held on Monday, 17 March 2025, and was presented by:

  • Dr. Abouther Talib Halabus (Lecturer)
  • Assistant Lecturer Salam Abdul Zahra Khalifa
  • Assistant Lecturer Abu Alhassan Ali Mahfouz

The workshop targeted first-year students in the Petroleum Engineering Department and covered a range of important topics, including basic safety procedures, safe handling of hazardous chemicals, and emergency response actions. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of wearing personal protective equipment and following strict protocols to ensure a safe laboratory environment.

The workshop received positive engagement from the students, enhancing their awareness of the fundamentals of chemical safety and its importance in preventing accidents and maintaining a safe working environment within laboratories.
