A specialized training course entitled “Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Using ANSYS Fluent” concluded at the Faculty of Engineering – University of Maysan, aiming to enhance the research and applied capabilities of participants in the field of convective heat analysis and transfer through modern numerical simulation techniques.
The course was delivered by Ahmed Kazem Al-Sharaa, Mortada Muhammad Saeed, and Dalal Karim Atwan, and spanned three days of intensive theoretical and practical sessions that covered advanced engineering concepts and applications.
On the first day, the lecturers introduced the concept of three-dimensional convection heat transfer (3D Convection Heat Transfer), accompanied by a comprehensive practical application that included engineering model preparation, mesh generation, boundary condition definition, and the implementation of numerical solutions using ANSYS Fluent.
The second day focused on modeling and direct application, during which participants built a complete CFD model, selected suitable turbulence models, and analyzed results while linking them to theoretical aspects of heat transfer.
The third and final day presented five advanced applications, including vortex flow simulation (Swirl Flow), two-phase flow (Two-Phase Flow), air-load heat transfer (Wind Convection), heat transfer in phase change materials (PCM), and flow simulation inside a propellant pump (Impeller Pump).
The course emphasized the significance of employing advanced engineering software in analyzing thermal and mechanical systems to improve design efficiency. It also highlighted the importance of enabling researchers and engineers to convert physical phenomena into accurate numerical models that serve as reliable tools in engineering research, innovation, and development.
