As part of the ongoing efforts to advance academic progress and promote modern scientific specializations, the faculty of engineering – University of Maysan has obtained official approval from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to establish a Department of Biomedical Engineering starting from the academic year 2025–2026.
This scientific achievement reflects the faculty’s vision of keeping pace with global developments that integrate engineering and medical sciences, opening new opportunities for students to join a promising specialization that contributes to preparing qualified competencies capable of serving society and its health and educational institutions.
On this occasion, the Dean of the faculty, Professor Abbas Oda Dawood, expressed pride in this development, describing it as a qualitative leap in the faculty’s progress. He extended appreciation for the significant efforts of the President of the University of Maysan, Professor Adel Man’e Dakhil, for his continuous support in following up this file, as well as the sincere contributions of the university’s assistants, the faculty’s assistant deans, and all relevant committees.
The establishment of the Department of Biomedical Engineering represents a valuable addition to the academic departments of the faculty of engineering and reinforces the leading role the faculty aspires to within Iraqi universities, in line with the labor market’s needs and the strategic directions of the Ministry.
