The College of Engineering enhances cooperation with the Engineers Syndicate to develop the skills of students and graduates

Professor Abbas Oda Dawood, Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Maysan, welcomed a delegation from the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate – Maysan Branch, headed by Engineer Ali Karim Hashem, Head of the Oil Division in the Syndicate’s branch. The meeting was also attended by Assistant Professor Jabbar Rahim Rashid, Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department, and Assistant Lecturer Salam Abdul Zahra Khalifa, Head of the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the college.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the possibility of organizing summer training programs for students of the Petroleum Engineering Department within the projects and institutions affiliated with the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate. The College of Engineering expressed its full support for this initiative, which seeks to enhance students’ practical skills by exposing them to real-world work environments. Implementation of the program will proceed upon receiving the necessary approvals from the Presidency of the University of Maysan and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Additionally, the meeting explored the possibility of involving graduates of the College of Engineering in training programs offered by the Syndicate, in coordination with the college’s Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Unit. This effort aims to strengthen the employability of graduates and improve their preparedness for integration into the labor market.
