The Faculty of Engineering organizes a workshop on firefighting and the role of women in promoting a culture of safety

Under the patronage of the President of Maysan University, Professor Adel Man’e Dakhil, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Abbas Oda Dawood, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering organized a workshop entitled: “Firefighting and the Role of Women in Promoting a Culture of Safety”

The event was held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at ten in the morning in the hall of the late Dr. Adel Abdullah Shahib, and was presented by Assistant Physicist Fatima Rasoul Saleh.

The workshop addressed several key themes, including:
– Introducing civil defense and its primary role in protecting lives and property during disasters.
– Fire types, the ignition triangle, and extinguishing methods.
– Demonstration of different types of extinguishers and how to use them properly.
– The pivotal role of women in spreading a culture of safety within the home, institutions, and society.
– Guidelines for home safety, first aid, and the use of personal protective equipment.

During the workshop, the lecturer emphasized the importance of promoting safety culture as a shared responsibility among all members of society, highlighting the vital role of women in instilling values of prevention and adopting proper behavior in emergency situations.
