The Faculty of Engineering – University of Maysan received the ministerial committee assigned by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to follow up on the work of the Department of Chemical Engineering, within the framework of ministerial programs aimed at evaluating newly established departments and developing the academic structure in Iraqi universities.
The committee was welcomed by Professor Abbas Oda Dawood, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, along with Professor Saad Fahd Rasan, Assistant Dean for Administrative and Legal Affairs, Professor Hassanein Abbas Hassan, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, and Professor Muzaffar Yaqoub Hussein, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, in addition to a group of distinguished faculty members from the department.
During the visit, the committee conducted a comprehensive field tour that included classrooms and scientific laboratories, where it reviewed the college’s available capabilities and the modern educational tools and methods adopted to support the learning process. The discussions also covered study plans, course syllabi, and academic quality standards, with a focus on ensuring alignment with national accreditation requirements.
The Ministerial Committee expressed its appreciation for the remarkable efforts and advanced preparations made by the College of Engineering in developing its academic environment and providing the infrastructure necessary for the success of the Chemical Engineering Department. The committee affirmed its support for the college’s plans to strengthen the specialization and expand its capacity in accordance with the directives of the Ministry and the needs of the labor market.
At the conclusion of the visit, Professor Abbas Oda Dawood extended his thanks and appreciation to the members of the Ministerial Committee for their continuous support of academic programs, emphasizing that the Faculty of Engineering remains committed to implementing its strategic vision to develop its departments, enhance the quality of education, and elevate the standards of engineering instruction at the University of Maysan.
