Master’s thesis discussion in Faculty of Engineering/Department of Civil Engineering

The public discussion of Shams Al-Daha Khalaf’s Master’s thesis from the Department of Civil Engineering took place on Monday, June 24, 2024, in the graduate hall of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Maysan. The discussion committee was composed of the following esteemed members:

  • Professor Dr. Muhammed Saleh Abdul Ali – Chair
  • Assistant Lecturer Dr. Mortaza Abbas Abd Ali – Member
  • Assistant Lecturer Dr. Mustafa Jaseb Muhammed – Member
  • Assistant Lecturer Dr. Samer Muhammed Jaseb – Member and Supervisor

The thesis, titled “Behavior of Deep Concrete Thresholds Made of Bricks as Coarse Aggregate,” included both practical and theoretical studies on the performance of deep concrete thresholds. The research focused on ordinary concrete with recycled materials used as a partial substitute for coarse aggregate, aiming to reduce the consumption of natural resources in building materials and minimize structural waste in the environment. Special attention was given to shear behavior in the structural components studied. Various factors were examined, including the replacement ratios of recycled bricks, treatment methods, and distribution patterns, all aimed at preserving desirable concrete properties. The study identified effective ratios and methods to produce highly efficient concrete.
