University of Maysan Opens New Expansion of Electrical Engineering Department, Adding Second Floor, in Ceremony Attended by Governor and Chancellor

On Saturday, October 19, 2024, Maysan Governor Mr. Habib Zahir officially inaugurated the expansion of the Department of Electrical Engineering building at the University of Maysan. The project includes the addition of a second floor to accommodate the increasing number of students and improve the academic facilities available at the university.

The ceremony was attended by key figures, including the Chancellor of the University of Maysan, Professor Dr. Adil Man’e Dakhil, and the Head of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Dr. Abbas Oda Dawood. Also present were the Assistant Governor for Technical Affairs, Engineer Mr. Majid Jaafar Sada, staff from the Project Management Department, senior members of the Faculty of Engineering, and several students from the department.

The expansion is one of several projects funded by the local government to support the higher education sector in Maysan. The initiative seeks to enhance the university’s infrastructure, providing improved resources for both students and faculty.

During the event, Professor Dr. Abbas Oda Dawood delivered a speech thanking the local government for its continued support of the Faculty of Engineering and the University of Maysan. He emphasized the Faculty’s commitment to advancing both its academic offerings and physical facilities, underscoring the significance of the expansion in achieving these goals.

At the end of the ceremony, the Chancellor of the University presented University Shields to the Governor, the Assistant Governor for Technical Affairs, Engineer Mr. Majid Jaafar Sada, the Director of the Project Management Department, Engineer Mr. Ihab Adel, and Engineer Mr. Hameed Rasheed. The Governor also honored the Resident Engineer’s Department for their efforts in bringing the project to completion.

This expansion is expected to greatly benefit the Electrical Engineering department by enhancing the university’s capacity to provide high-quality education and support to its students, further solidifying the University of Maysan’s role in advancing engineering education in the region.
