Professor Abbas Oda Dawood, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Maysan, recently chaired the PhD thesis defense committee for doctoral student Maryam Ibrahim Juma’a from the Department of Civil Engineering. The thesis, titled “Exploring the Behavior of Composite Concrete – Corrugated Steel Webs Box Beams,” was presented as part of the student’s doctoral research.
The discussion committee was composed of several distinguished members from various universities. In addition to Professor Dawood, the committee included Professor Dr. Haleem Kazim Hussein from Basra University, Associate Professor Dr. Uday Adnan Abd al-Razak, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahad Zuhair Hamoodi, and Assistant Professor Dr. Muthanna Shakir Mahdi, all from Basra University. The committee was completed by Professor Dr. Fareed Hamid Majid from Qadisiyah University, who also served as the thesis supervisor.
The thesis defense took place on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 9 a.m. in the Graduate Auditorium of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Basra.
This event highlights the continued support from the Deanship of the Faculty of Engineering for academic collaboration between Iraqi universities. The Faculty is dedicated to promoting scientific research and fostering strong academic relationships across the country, strengthening the overall impact of higher education in Iraq.
