Women’s Affairs Unit at the Faculty of Engineering Hosts Specialized Training Lecture

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Maysan, Professor Adel Man’e Dakhel, and the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Abbas Oda Dawood, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Faculty of Engineering organized a specialized training lecture as part of the implementation of the Third National Plan for Women, Security, and Peace—specifically the Pillar of Participation and Institutional Reform for the year 2025. This initiative aligns with the objectives outlined in the seventh paragraph of the national plan.

The training lecture, titled “Making Tables, Statistics, and Collecting Data Using Excel“, was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Mohsen Ghadeeb from the Department of Electrical Engineering. It aimed to enhance participants’ technical skills in preparing data tables and performing statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel.

During the lecture, attendees were introduced to Excel as a versatile environment for mathematical, statistical, and logical tasks. The session covered fundamental concepts such as understanding cells, storing values, and using built-in functions, as well as constructing more advanced functions manually.

Participants learned how to navigate the Excel interface, set up worksheets, and prepare files in an organized manner. The lecture also addressed the creation and formatting of tables, the use of graphs for data visualization, and methods for linking worksheets and external Excel files.

Additional topics included sorting and filtering data, using the Hyperlink feature to connect internal and external resources, and freezing headers to facilitate easier navigation through large datasets.

This training session is part of a broader effort to support and empower women in academic and institutional settings by strengthening their digital competencies and enhancing their proficiency in data analysis tools critical to modern professional environments.
