Professor Ahmed Al-Sharaa chaired the committee for the discussion of the doctoral thesis entitled “Theoretical and Experimental Study of a Vehicle Absorption Air Conditioning System Driven by the Waste Heat of the Engine,” submitted by PhD student Mohammed Qasim Shaheen from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering – University of Basra.
The discussion was held at 9:00 AM on Thursday, July 24, 2025, in the Graduate Studies Hall of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Basra.
The thesis focused on the theoretical and experimental design and analysis of an absorption air conditioning system for vehicles that utilizes waste heat from the engine. The study aims to enhance energy efficiency and reduce harmful emissions by harnessing otherwise lost thermal energy.
The discussion committee commended the student for the significant scientific effort demonstrated in the research and recommended awarding him a doctoral degree following the implementation of the required modifications.
Members of the discussion committee were as follows:
- Assistant Professor Ahmed Kazem Mohammed – University of Maysan, Faculty of Engineering – Chair
- Assistant Professor Falah Assi Abboud – University of Basra, Faculty of Engineering – Member
- Assistant Professor Adel Abdul Aziz Idan – Central Technical University, Technical Engineering College – Najaf – Member
- Assistant Professor Muhammad Nasser Faris – University of Basra, Faculty of Engineering – Member
