The Faculty of Engineering – University of Maysan participated as part of a delegation of university professors, headed by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Muhammad Kazem Al-Hashemi, in the activities of the first scientific conference of editorial boards of Iraqi journals, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and hosted by the University of Technology in Baghdad.
The faculty was represented at this important scientific event by:
- Ahmed Kazem Al-Sharaa – Editor-in-Chief of Maysan Journal of Engineering Sciences (MJES)
- Mustafa Jasib – Head of the Scientific Journal Unit
This participation reflects the Faculty of Engineering’s commitment to strengthening its scientific presence and raising the status of the Maysan Journal of Engineering Sciences by engaging with international experiences.
The conference, attended by Iraqi university presidents along with experts from Elsevier, Clarivate, the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, and ASF, discussed ways to improve the quality of Iraqi academic journals and integrate them into global databases.
Representatives of the faculty emphasized that the Ministry of Higher Education’s strategic partnerships with Scopus and Clarivate have provided wide opportunities for Iraqi journals to engage with the international academic community through accurate citation data, research impact indicators, and sustainable consultation channels.
Sponsored by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naeem Al-Aboudi, the conference constituted a scientific platform to exchange experiences and highlight the growing role of Iraqi journals in enhancing the position of Iraqi universities at the regional and global levels.
