Under the patronage of the President of Maysan University, Professor Adel Manea Dakhil, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Abbas Oda Dawood, the Continuing Education Unit at the Faculty of Engineering, in cooperation with the Department of Petroleum Engineering, organized a specialized training workshop entitled: “Academic Use of Mendeley Software in Scientific Reference Management”
The workshop was held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Faculty of Engineering – Department of Petroleum Engineering, Hall No. (2).
The aim of the workshop was to enhance the skills of faculty members, researchers, and postgraduate students in the field of organizing and managing scientific references using the Mendeley program—one of the most advanced tools supporting researchers during the preparation of scientific papers and academic theses.
The workshop was presented by:
– Assistant Lecturer Saif Ali Qasim Abdul Zahra
– Assistant Lecturer Taha Muhammad Qasim
– Assistant Lecturer Abu al-Hasan Ali Mahfouz
Lecturers in the Department of Petroleum Engineering.
The workshop covered both theoretical and practical aspects, including the installation of the program, creation of a digital library of sources, organization of research files, and input of references in various citation styles. Participants were trained on formatting references according to international standards such as APA and IEEE, as well as on linking Mendeley with Microsoft Word to automate the insertion of citations during writing.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the lecturers emphasized the importance of using modern reference management tools to improve the quality of scientific research and ensure precision in academic documentation. Participants expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted in organizing this valuable and specialized training activity, which contributes to developing researchers’ technical and academic capabilities.
