Under the framework of the University of Maysan’s vision to strengthen international academic cooperation and provide global educational opportunities for its students, the Faculty of Engineering organized a virtual workshop via the (FCC) platform on Wednesday morning, November 5, 2025, entitled:
(Mechanism for Applying for Russian Scholarships within the International Olympiad Program – Open Doors)
The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the procedures for applying to Russian scholarships, the conditions for participation, and the available specializations within the program that grants international students and university staff direct admission to top Russian universities.
The event was attended by Professor Nazir Jassim Mohammed, Cultural Attaché of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation, who delivered a presentation on academic fields of study in Russia and the scholarship opportunities available to Iraqi students.
The workshop also witnessed the participation of Professor Mohammed Al-Hashemi, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies at the University of Maysan, Professor Abbas Awda Daoud, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Saad Fahd Rasan, Assistant Dean for Administrative and Legal Affairs, Professor Hassanein Abbas Hassan, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies, as well as heads of departments, faculty members, and staff.
The workshop was held under the supervision of the Department of Cultural Relations at the University of Maysan, led by Professor Mustafa Nasser Manati, with Assistant Lecturer Haider Jassim Muhammad serving as the coordinator between the University of Maysan and Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU – POLYTECH).
This event reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to establish future scientific cooperation and to prepare for the signing of academic collaboration agreements between the two institutions, as part of a broader strategy to promote international openness and highlight global educational opportunities.
It is noteworthy that the Open Doors Scholarship offers a wide range of specializations across undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and post-doctoral programs.
