The Governor of Maysan, Mr. Habib Zaher Al-Fartousi, accompanied by the President of Maysan University, Professor Adel Man’e Dakhil, and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Abbas Oda Dawood, inaugurated the Oil Engineering Department Halls and Laboratories Project, considered one of the vital projects of the Faculty of Engineering and a qualitative addition to its infrastructure. The project provides modern educational, laboratory, and administrative facilities that contribute to developing the university environment and supporting the practical education of petroleum engineering students.
The building consists of three floors comprising classrooms, scientific laboratories, administrative offices, and service facilities.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Technical Assistant to the Governor of Maysan, Engineer Majed Jaafar Sada, the Mayor of Al-Maimouna, Mr. Raed Shamil, members of the Faculty of Engineering Council, and a number of faculty members and staff, as well as representatives of the Resident Engineer Department.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Abbas Oda Dawood, explained that the project was completed on a total area of approximately 1,000 square meters. The three-story building was designed to meet the educational, administrative, and scientific requirements of the department and includes the following:
- 12 classrooms equipped to serve students and accommodate theoretical lectures.
- 5 scientific laboratories dedicated to practical applications and experiments in petroleum engineering.
- A conference hall for seminars, conferences, and scientific and academic events.
- 9 administrative and faculty offices.
- 6 sanitary facilities distributed according to the building’s requirements.
- An electric elevator to facilitate the movement of students and staff between floors.
- An electric generator with a capacity of 650 KVA to provide electrical power when required.
- An electrical transformer with a capacity of 1,000 KVA to provide the power necessary to operate the building and its facilities.
The building is also equipped with an integrated system of essential services and supporting facilities, including a modern surveillance camera system. In addition, it has been furnished and equipped with educational supplies, laboratory materials, computers, screens, whiteboards, and office furniture to meet the educational, scientific, and administrative requirements of the department.
The project was supervised by joint specialized engineering committees from Maysan Governorate, Maysan University, and the Faculty of Engineering, ensuring that the implementation and completion of the project were carried out in accordance with the required technical and engineering standards.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Abbas Oda Dawood, stressed that the completion of this project enhances the Faculty’s ability to provide an advanced educational environment and supports its efforts to raise the level of engineering education and better serve students of the Department of Petroleum Engineering. He also expressed his appreciation and thanks to the local government of Maysan Governorate, the Presidency of Maysan University, and all supporting entities for their efforts and contributions to the implementation of this vital project.
