Sponsored by Professor Dr. Abbas Oda Dawood, The Head The Engineering Faculty and under the supervision of the Head of The Faculty and in cooperation with the principals of the academic departments, the Faculty of Engineering, in coordination with the Department of Student Activities at Maysan University, organized the Faculty of Engineering Chess Championship for Students. This event was part of the sports activities scheduled for the first term of the 2024-2025 academic year, aimed at promoting various student activities.
The tournament concluded with Mohammed Majid Matar, a student from the Department of Electrical Engineering, securing first place, followed by Mohamed Mu’id Saleh, a student from the Department of Petroleum Engineering, in second place.
At the awards ceremony, Dr. Abbas Oda presented the prizes to the winners. The Manager of Student Activities at the Faculty remarked that the tournament showcased the students’ talents and intellectual abilities in the game of chess, which, as a mental game, enhances critical thinking and reflective skills.
