The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in the academic year 2012-2013, concurrent with the founding of the college. It is considered one of the essential departments and plays a significant role in societal development by providing services and training engineers who undertake various electrical engineering tasks in both governmental institutions and the private sector.
The department aims, in the coming years, to expand its academic programs, subject to the availability of qualified faculty and resources, and to introduce postgraduate studies in fields such as power and machinery, electronics, communications, control systems, and computing. This expansion aligns with advancements in various fields of life and addresses the needs of Iraqi society for these specializations.
The Department of Electrical Engineering admits students from the scientific branch and has implemented the Bologna System. Evening studies are also available, as well as postgraduate programs within the department.
